Doosan Mobility Innovation (DMI) is intensifying its marketing efforts for military solutions using hydrogen drones by actively participating in military-related events. DMI attended the International Maritime Defense Industry Exhibition (MADEX 2023) held at BEXCO in Busan from June 7th to 9th. At the event, DMI introduced the various applications and electrification potentials of hydrogen drones and also conducted live flight demonstrations.

MADEX, which began in 1998 following the International Naval Review of the Republic of Korea Navy, merged with the International Shipbuilding and Marine Industry Exhibition and the International Port Logistics & Marine Environment Industry Exhibition in 2001, marking its 13th event this year. This year's exhibition saw participation from over 140 defense companies from 12 countries.

At the exhibition, DMI unveiled:
- The hydrogen fuel cell power pack module DMI15, which can be easily customized and applied not only to drone bodies but also various ground mobility.
- The hydrogen drone DS30W, which boasts enhanced wind resistance, can withstand average wind speeds of 12m/s and gusts up to 15m/s. Additionally, it has achieved an IP43 rating for water and dust resistance.

In addition to this event, DMI displayed its hydrogen drones at a series of military-related events, such as the Combined Manned-Unmanned Combat System Exhibition hosted by the Army 2nd Operational Command on May 25th-26th and the 'DroneBot Festival,' the largest domestic drone festival hosted by the Ground Operations Command on June 2nd-4th.

DMI's hydrogen drones are known for their ability to fly for over 2 hours, with reduced noise and vibration, making them suitable for tasks like searching and rescuing distressed or missing individuals, surveillance, and reconnaissance.

In the second half of 2021, DMI formed a defense task force and participated in various projects like the Rapid Prototype Acquisition Project (Defense Acquisition Program Administration), Excellent Commercial Product Pilot Operation Project (Ministry of National Defense), and Combat Experiment Operation Project (Army Training School). Notably, as a part of the Excellent Commercial Product Pilot Operation Project, DMI delivered one unit to the Army Transport Command in 2021 for search and reconnaissance missions. They also supplied four more units last year and are currently in discussions for further deliveries this year.

A representative from DMI stated, "This year, DMI plans to expand its hydrogen mobility business domain using hydrogen fuel cell power packs and will actively promote the utility and necessity of hydrogen drones to the military and local governments through aggressive marketing."

Furthermore, in September of the previous year, DMI conducted a search and rescue training exercise off the coast of Jeju Island in collaboration with the UDT/SEAL Special Warfare Flotilla, the Ministry of National Defense's compulsory advisor Dr. Lee Kook-Jong, and others. During the training, DMI's hydrogen drone identified the location of the distressed individuals, dropped a life buoy and GPS location marker, and the UDT/SEAL deep-sea divers quickly conducted the rescue based on the location signal.
